What We Do

End-to-End Medical Supply Chain Solutions

CHAN Medi-Pharm operates a specialized, highly regulated medical supply chain network, powered by cold-chain integrity, advanced tracking, and a specialized fleet.

1. Logistics & Distribution

Structured around three critical pillars to support major public health initiatives and donor-funded projects.

Long-Haul Freight

Heavy-duty, multi-axle freight trucks connecting central ports and donor hubs directly to regional distribution centers (Jos, Numan, Owerri). Features bulk cross-docking for anti-malarials and vaccines.

Last-Mile Delivery

Pharma-grade vans and 4WD vehicles optimized for rough terrain. Equipped with active refrigeration and passive cooler boxes for strict 2°C to 8°C cold chain compliance.

Reverse Logistics

Fast-tracked collection for batch recalls, expired commodity management, and retrieval of reusable cold-chain equipment (data loggers, pallets).

2. Warehousing & Cold Chain

Managing a nationwide storage footprint of 15,000 cubic metres optimized for pharmaceuticals.

Redundant Cold Chain Security

Dual large-scale Cold Room units at Jos and Owerri hubs for thermo-labile products (vaccines, blood products). All depots feature medical-grade refrigerators with digital data loggers.

GDP & Pharmacist Oversight

Strict NAFDAC regulations. Every depot is managed by Qualified Pharmacists ensuring batch tracing, expiration management, and Rational Use of Medicines.

3. Grant Management & Drug Revolving Fund

Grant Management
  • Compliance & Oversight: Monitoring downstream resource allocations ensuring USAID/Global Fund compliance.
  • M&E Integration: Providing robust data streams from LMIS to track supply velocity and grant performance.
Drug Revolving Fund (DRF)

A sustainable service operating across 400+ Member Institutions and 4,000 affiliated clinics.

  • Seed Capital: Ring-fenced donor funding plowed back into DRF accounts.
  • Cost-Recovery: Controlled, affordable markup to buffer inflation.
  • Zero-Leakage: Digital LMIS and electronic point-of-sale tracking.

4. Procurement & Market Access

Acting as a strategic aggregator bridging global manufacturers and frontline facilities.

Bulk Sourcing & QA

Pooling inventory of 400+ hospitals to secure factory-gate pricing. Sourcing is restricted to WHO-cGMP compliant and NAFDAC-registered manufacturers to eliminate counterfeits.

Vulnerable Market Access

Cost-recovery model stabilizes prices in rural areas. We maintain inventory buffers in conflict-affected zones to guarantee equity of access regardless of location.

5. Health Systems Strengthening

Targeting key building blocks of the health system to create systemic resilience and permanent institutional capacity.

Addressing the skilled healthcare brain drain. Depot pharmacists provide continuous mentorship to CHEWs, nurses, and facility managers. We also conduct Clinical Audits for Rational Drug Use (RDU) to curb over-prescribing of antibiotics.

Standardizing LMIS tools to capture patient-level data. Shifting rural storekeepers to demand-driven logistics by training them to calculate Min-Max stock thresholds, eliminating emergency ordering.

Installing DRF financial structures and training hospital boards in strict accounting. We advocate at state/federal levels for affordable generic Essential Medicines and lobby against Substandard and Falsified (SF) medicines alongside NAFDAC.

6. Quality Assurance: GPHF Minilab

A frontline defense against Substandard and Falsified (SF) medicines, operated by qualified pharmacists at the central Jos hub.

The 4-Tiered Testing Methodology
Visual Inspection

Examining packaging, batch labels, font uniformity, and physical tablet characteristics against reference standards.

Physical Disintegration

Testing how fast a tablet breaks down in water at body temperature (must be 15-30 mins, else API cannot be absorbed).

Color Reaction Tests

Fast chemical tests confirming the correct active drug class is present, revealing inert fillers.

Thin-Layer Chromatography

Isolates the compound to assess Identity, Content/Potency (detects under-dosing), and Impurities.

The Escalation Protocol

If a sample fails, the batch is immediately quarantined in the digital warehouse system. It is then escalated to WHO-prequalified confirmatory labs (like MEDS Lab or Difaem), and data is reported to NAFDAC and WHO rapid alert systems.
